Here’s a photo that I took after Spain lost one of their prelim games. Its of a group of kids, guestimated ages 8-12, who were at the game too.
They were crying their eyes out from the loss. I asked the friend we were with why they were crying and she translated that they were so upset about the loss saying: “How could that happen!?” “What are we going to do!?”
At first I thought it amusing, but realized quickly that there was a greater message here. One much more powerful about how passionate this country, and its people, are about this game.
Do you think that these kids aspire to play for their country one day? I think so.
