University of Tennessee’s women’s head basketball coach, Pat Summit, said: “I carry this with me all the time.”
I Thank My Competitors
My competitors do more for me
Than my friends.
My friends are too polite to point out my
weaknesses, but my competitors go to great
expense to tell of them.
My competitors are efficient and diligent.
They make me search for ways to improve
my products and services.
My competitors would take my business away
from me if they could.
This keeps me alert to hold what I have.
If I had no competitors, I would be lazy,
incompetent and complacent. I need the
discipline they enforce upon me.
I thank my competitors.
They have been good to me.
God Bless Them All.

Hall of Fame coach, Patt Summitt (Tennessee Lady Vols,1974–2012), holds the record for the most all-time wins for a coach in NCAA basketball history of either a men’s or women’s team in any division. Summitt won eight NCAA championships, surpassed only by the 10 titles won by UCLA coach John Wooden and the 10 titles won by UConn coach Geno Auriemma. She was the first NCAA coach, and one of four college coaches overall, to achieve at least 1,000 wins (she achieved 1,098). She has the most wins of any NCAA basketball coach. [Wiki] Above all else, she is a barrier breaker and difference maker for countless others.
